This Direct-to-Patient Scheduling FHIR app allows the scheduling staff to schedule telehealth appointments directly in Cerner Millennium and updates the provider’s ambulatory organizer when the patient has arrived in the virtual waiting room. Healthcare providers can then join the virtual visit promptly.

American Well’s Direct-to-Patient Scheduling FHIR app allows the scheduling staff to schedule telehealth appointments directly in Cerner Millennium and updates the provider’s ambulatory organizer when the patient has arrived in the virtual waiting room. Healthcare providers can then join the virtual visit promptly. By reporting the patient’s arrival within the ambulatory organizer, providers can complete the documentation of the telehealth visit and its subsequent processing through the revenue cycle (e.g. claim submission and adjudication, billing, etc.).

Use Case

  • Using Cerner Scheduling, staff members can schedule and manage appointments for virtual visits on behalf of providers. Each provider gets notified via ambulatory organizer the minute the patient arrives to the appointment, in the same fashion as they are notified when patients arrive to their office’s reception area, allowing the provider to join the patient for the scheduled telehealth visit.
